Visa Requirements for Iceland
Individuals from the countries below do not require a visa to enter Iceland and are exempt from visa requirement for up to three months; both for visiting and working in any period of six months. If you wish to stay longer, then you would need to apply for a resident permit.

British1 passport holder, including holders of passports for “British Nationals (Overseas)”
With regards to HONG KONG2 passport holders, the exemption only applies to those who are carrying HKSAR (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) passports
Citizens of the Special Administrative Region of China, MACAO3, need to have a valid Macaosar passport in order to gain a three month visa exemption.
Citizens of MACEDONIA4 and MONTENEGRO5 are required to carry a valid biometric (red) passport in order to gain a three month visa exemption.
For citizens of MEXICO6 who are diplomats, the exemption does not apply and are obliged to obtain a valid visa.
Citizens from SERBIA7 carrying biometric (red) passports can gain entry without a visa for the three months, however, blue passports or passports issued by the Coordination Directorate (Koodinaciona uprava) need to apply for a visa.
For citizens of TURKEY, with diplomatic passports, official passports or service passports issued by Turkey are exempt from obtaining a visa.
SOUTH AFRICAN and PAKISTANI diplomatic passport holders and service passports are exempt from obtaining a visa.

Romanian and Bulgarian citizens are restricted and would need to obtain further advice by contacting the Embassy of Iceland in their respective countries or the country you are currently in.
For a permanent residence permit, EU members would need to have resided continuously for three years, with courses undertaken in Icelandic for foreigners. Applications are can be obtained from the Icelandic directorate of Immigration.
Airport transit visas are required by citizens of the following countries transiting/passing through any airport in Iceland: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, The People’s Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Sri Lanka who do not have a residence permit in the Schengen or other types of permits issued by Andorra, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland or the United States.
